Toyota released the all-new ninth-generation Camry last year, debuting a car with more modern styling and a hybrid-only powertrain. Despite today only being May 1, the automaker has already announced the 2026 Camry, which arrives this fall with one key update.
The Camry Nightshade Edition returns for 2026 after taking a year off for the overhaul, making five available trims: LE, SE, XLE, Nightshade, and XSE. Available in white, red, or black, the package includes metallic black exterior trim, black wheels, and a rear diffuser, giving the car a surprisingly sporty look.
The car’s hybrid powertrain didn’t change. It’s a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor, making a combined 225 horsepower in front-wheel drive variants and 232 in all-wheel drive cars. Toyota said its latest generation hybrid system is tuned for a more natural acceleration feel and a smoother driving experience.
Toyota offers an 8- or 12.3-inch touchscreen, depending on the trim, along with a 7- or 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and all Camry trims come with wireless phone charging. While it’s still not an industry-leading system, Toyota’s updated infotainment interface is light years ahead of previous iterations.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is on board by default, bringing a long list of driver-assistance tech, and the Camry is available with additional features in higher trim levels. The 2026 Camry hasn’t been crash-tested yet, but expect a similar performance to the 2025 model, which earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick + award.
