Ducktail But No Scrooge: This is the New 2026 BMW M2 CS

The BMW M2 was already one of the most fun and engaging coupes on the market, but it’s getting better for 2026 with the new M2 CS. Its lightweight design shaves almost 100 pounds from the base car, and it features a significant power boost.

The 2026 M2 CS has a turbocharged inline-six, making 523 horsepower, a 50-pony bump over the standard car, which reaches only the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Torque is also up, reaching 479 pound-feet, and BMW remapped the M2’s throttle for better responsiveness.

That combination can send the car from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds, a two-tenths improvement over the M2, and the CS offers a 188-0mph top speed. It features an exclusive M exhaust, a lower ride height, an M sport differential, and more. M compound brakes are standard, but BMW offers an $8,500 carbon brake system. BMW also fitted a ducktail spoiler, giving the CS a unique profile.

Inside, the CS comes with BMW’s butt-punishing carbon sport seats, M seatbelts, and M2 CS badges. Standard features include a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 14.9-inch touchscreen, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system runs BMW’s latest iDrive 8.5, which has voice and gesture controls.

The new M2 CS also gets a generous number of safety features, including forward collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, lane keep assist, and a parking assistance system.

BMW will release more details on the car’s pricing and packaging closer to its release date this fall. The car will be built at BMW’s factory in Mexico starting in August.
