Genesis Cuts the Electrified G80 from Its Lineup

The Genesis Electrified G80 has only been around since 2023, but it’s already getting the boot. Genesis recently confirmed the car’s departure, telling Car and Driver that, “the customer is at the core of every decision we make, and we remain flexible as we adapt to ever-changing consumer needs and market conditions,” confirming that the 2024 Electrified G80 would be the last to sell in the United States.

Genesis sold 1,329 cars in 2023, but only managed 397 sales last year, and just 77 so far in 2025. That has made the Electrified G80 the brand’s worst-selling vehicle, and its South Korean manufacturing location means it would be subjected to import tariffs, likely making this decision an easy one for Genesis.

The Electrified G80 is no longer available on Genesis’ website, leaving the GV60 and electrified GV70 as its only electric models. Despite the electric model’s departure, the automaker still offers the G70, G80, and G90 sedans with gas engines.

Genesis was planning a significant update for the car heading into 2026. It was slated to receive a longer wheelbase, which would have increased interior space and given it a much-improved ride quality. It offered two electric motors with 365 horsepower and an EPA-estimated 282-mile driving range. The automaker also introduced a new 27-inch OLED display screen, and the car’s interior remains shockingly nice for the price.
