Tesla Reveals New Model Y Performance for Europe

Tesla recently unveiled the new Model Y Performance, showing an updated electric SUV with 460 horsepower, two motors, and a 3.3-second 0-60 mph time. While impressive, it’s unclear if the new EV will help Tesla’s sliding sales in Europe, where the new Model Y debuted.

Tesla doesn’t detail the new EV’s battery capacity, but noted that it gets higher-density cells and a WLTP-estimated range of about 360 miles. It can also fast-charge, adding 151 miles of range in 15 minutes. The Model Y performance gets adaptive dampers from the Model 3, 21-inch wheels, and red brake calipers. Tesla also fits a carbon fiber spoiler and other aerodynamic bodywork. A larger 16-inch touchscreen comes standard inside, along with heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and improved bolstering.

The new Model Y Performance costs about $72,500 to start, a significant upcharge over the standard vehicle. Telsa also recently introduced a longer-wheelbase six-seat Model YL for China, but it’s unclear if either vehicle will help the automaker turn the corner. Its sales in Europe have fallen by about a third, and it has struggled to break through in China, where domestic brands dominate.

Tesla will begin deliveries of the new Model Y Performance in September in Europe. The American version likely won’t be far behind, so expect an early 2026 rollout at the latest.
